The AI Forum of New Zealand is excited to announce the release of the AI Blueprint for Aotearoa New Zealand. The blueprint builds on existing industry efforts and aims to deliver tangible results towards a collective vision.
“The AI Blueprint for Aotearoa sets ambitious goals, aiming to establish New Zealand as a world-leading hub for responsible AI innovation by 2030, ensuring a prosperous, inclusive and equitable future,” says the AI Forum’s executive director, Madeline Newman.
The blueprint identifies six priority sectors for AI investment: agriculture, architecture and construction (AEC), creative industries, education, environment, and health. These sectors have been chosen for their critical role in New Zealand’s long-term economic development and the substantial benefits they could gain through AI integration.
Each sector has a detailed action plan outlining the next 12 months of activity to meet five-year targets. The strategy emphasizes key objectives such as public education and trust, AI adoption, sustainable infrastructure, cultural integration, and research and development.
“Our blueprint is a call to action for all stakeholders. Together, we can collaborate and build a future where Aotearoa is a world leader in responsible AI. This strategy is about harnessing AI’s potential to address productivity gaps, foster innovation and ensure our technology development is inclusive and sustainable.”
